Studying intelligence is difficult, in part because it can be described and evaluated in various ways. The capacity to learn from experiences and adjust to evolving situations is part of most meanings of intelligence. The ability to reason, organise, solve problems, think abstractly, and consider complex concepts requires elements of intelligence. Many studies depend on a measure of intelligence called the quotient (IQ) of intelligence.
In order to look for genes that affect intelligence, researchers have performed several studies. Many of these studies, especially looking at adopted children and twins, have focused on similarities and differences in IQ within families. These studies indicate that genetic factors underlie only about less than 40-45% of the difference between individuals in intelligence, rest is all due to the environment in which we are grown up.
A right growth environment contributes to more than 55% of the brain development and right care right from pregnancy days increases these numbers from 55% to 70% along with right physical health.
